Welcome to Yorkshire Occupational Health
Small but perfectly formed, Yorkshire Occupational Health & Wellbeing (YOHW) was formed in 2016 by Donna Dixon, to provide a tailored, responsive and cost effective Occupational Health service to clients of all shapes and sizes in the Yorkshire area. YOHW strengths include: effective communication, excellent organisational skills, a responsive, friendly and client focused approach and above all, a positive ‘can do’ approach to both its clients and their employees.
“Referring employees to occupational health professionals is regarded as the most effective approach to managing long-term absence” according to the CIPD
ABOUT ME
I have been a nurse for over 30 years, working in the acute setting, before entering Occupational Health as a very naïve OH advisor in 1996. Soon realising that OH was an area of nursing that was different and exciting; I gained a BSc (Hons) in Community Public Health Nursing (OH) and Specialist Practitioner SCPHN) award in 1998. Since that time, I have worked in a variety of workplace settings, both in the public and private sector, and have worked at most levels from a practitioner to Director.
During my time in OH, I have seen a gradual shift towards workplace wellbeing as part of the business priorities. This led me complete an MSc in Workplace Health & Wellbeing in 2013. This course helped to further develop a positive psychological framework for my clinical practice, which is really important when dealing with a wide range of mental health and wellbeing related issues in the workplace. In addition, I am keen for YOHW to become accredited to SEQOHS and am working towards this.
In my spare time, I enjoy cross fit training, running, jet-skiing, and travelling.
My hopes for the future:
- To keep well, stay happy and be successful
- To live life, love well and laugh often
- To continue to see my family flourish in life
